New Horizon Counseling Center Senior Community Service Center

Staying social and active are vital to the physical and emotional wellbeing of everyone. New Horizon Counseling Center’s Senior Center was created to provide a no-cost friendly and fun environment for Five Town residents 60 years or older

  • Variety of Activities each day such as music, art, educational workshops and lectures, social events, games, discussion groups, local trips, and jewelry making. 
  • Daily exercise provided include yoga, weight strengthening, and tai chi 
  • Hot lunches served daily 
  • Transportation available for residents of the Five Towns. 

Activities offered Monday – Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm

This is a no cost program.  Donations are accepted and appreciated. 

During this time of social distancing, ZOOM classes are being hosted Monday – Friday.  Please call for assistance setting up and joining our zoom classes.

New Horizon Counseling Center – The Club Social Model Day Program for Alzheimer’s/Dementia

The Club is designed to benefit both those with dementia or physical frailty as well as their families.   

For the participant: The Club offers a warm and supportive social environment in which he or she is treated with dignity and respect at all times. Our members receive socialization, hot lunch, and various therapeutic recreational activities. Members participate in our daily chair exercise program, music program, and cognitively stimulating games. 

For the family members, The Club provides respite, individual counseling and support groups. Social events are also held to promote a sense of community with fellow caregivers. Educational workshops and lectures are provided on a variety of topics to assist the caregivers care for their loved one, as well as themselves.   

Transportation is provided for eligible members within the Five Towns in Nassau County.   

Hot lunches served daily. 

Requirements: The participant must be a Nassau County resident, 60 years of age or older with a diagnosis of dementia or some physical frailty. 

 Program hours:  Monday – Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm
